In Maryland, there is always something going on. There are a lot of festivals and cultural events that are loved by locals and visitors alike. From ice extravaganzas or celebrations of art and music to an event dedicated to marshmallow Peeps, Maryland’s event calendar is full of exciting activities.

FeBREWary

FeBREWary is Maryland’s official month-long celebration of craft beer with many craft brew events across the state. Organized by The Brewers Association of Maryland the countries breweries, brewpubs, and alehouses are in full swing. FeBREWary in Maryland is the perfect opportunity to hoist a pint or two in many nice places you have never visited before.

Preakness Stakes

The Preakness is one of the  largest, single-day, annual sporting events that takes a place on the third Saturday in May. Moreover, it is also a day of fashion, fun, and celebration. At this festival, people can watch the top performing thoroughbreds in the world and listen to live performances by major artists at Infield Fest. The first Preakness Stakes was run in 1873 at Pimlico Race Course, where it is still held today.  So, wear your newest hat and place your bets!

PEEPShow in Westminster

People, who love marshmallows, will find themselves in heaven when visiting the PEEPShow around Easter in March or April in Westminster. Hundreds of marshmallow masterpieces, including sculptures, mosaics, and videos are displayed as works of art! Some of the leading choices of the last years include huge sugary versions of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, a Game of Thronesdragon, R2D2, Edgar Allen Poe, and Paddington Bear. If you have a sweet tooth, this festival is a must for you.

Secret Garden Tour of Havre de Grace

An exciting tour through the magnificent private gardens take a place annually on the Saturday after the Mother’s Day in May. The tour starts at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum where you can buy your ticket and get a map. At the Garden Mart and Plant Sale you can acquire native plants, and when you get hungry, the food vendors will satisfy your belly. The Gardens de Grace Club is sponsoring this event as a fundraiser for the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum.

Nationwide Seafood Festivals

You can find a lot of seafood festivals in Maryland. In June, you can visit the Chesapeake Crab, Wine, and Beer Festival in Baltimore, with over 30,000 crabs, lots of beer, arts & crafts, live music, and activities for family fun. The Maryland Seafood Festival at Sandy Point State in Annapolis takes a place in September with a lot of fun and family action at the beach.

During the Rock Hall Fall Fest in October, visitors can celebrate the Oyster. Besides enjoying Oysters, you can listen to musicians, and enjoy local fairs. Different oyster festivals can be found all over the state including St. Marys County, Baltimore, Port Convington, Tilghman Island, and other places in Maryland.
